Silly sprite edit - Turtles in Time intro

You could say this is something I thought about doing nearly every time I played the game.

Top one is the original and the lower one is the edited version.

Image15

The palette is slightly bigger on the edited one, hair is a tad more red and 2 skin tones are different, but nothing major really.

The boobs came out ok, but personally, still not happy with it. However, good enough to post I think.

First time I rip an animation with over 500 frames

Always liked this part in Pokémon mystery dungeon.

Original size

Resized

Enjoy.

Could use optimization, but there's way too many frames to do it manually.

I've been meaning to rip this sprite for years

In the back of the character selection screen in "Brutal: Paws of Fury", there's an animated silhouette of the character.

Foxy Roxy's is particularly good and really smooth, for years I've thought to myself I should rip it, but kept procrastinating it. After writing the article yesterday I went and got it from the SNES version.

Original

Bigger preview

Enjoy.

Edit: I had the image hosted on Google drive because I started trying it out recent, only because it sounded similar to dropbox, but less practical. It only worked for a few moments

Switched it to dropbox because it's way more reliable and actually works.

I called it! Also, a sprite map

Bam!

This is so bad for my ego, cause I'm gonna act all high and mighty now. Seriously though, neat article that kinda goes into points I attempted to explain when I wrote my article of Ultima IV.

The article does single out Ultima IV in a few parts, and even calls it "The most important title of the series". Ultima IV being one of the most important games ever is arguable, but it makes me happy as fuck that once in a while magazines, reviewers and sites refer to it as highly as strongly as I do.

Just so it doesn't look like I made this post entirely to brag, and before I start calling people plebs, here's something I did a while back:

Click it cause it's pretty big.

Now I'm gonna ramble on about it because Ultima IV makes my dick hard.

This is a map of Britain, the city dedicated to the virtue of Compassion. The profession associated with compassion is bard, so if you roll a bard it's where you'll start the game.

It's extremely close to Lord British's castle, so that makes it a rather good starting point. If you aren't playing as a bard, you may ask Iolo the bard to join your party providing your compassion level is high enough.

The map has the color limitation the original Sega Master System game has, and all the tiles are based on the tiles from it.

There's really no reason I made this other than I just like Ultima IV. I made this in early December, but haven't posted it anywhere til now because it's only "neat" to you if you played the game.

Btw, this is how the town looks in the original PC game:

Not hard to see why I like the master system version better.

Takin the day off in Minecraft

Well, not really. I never made a sprite in Minecraft before, so thought I'd try it at least once. Creative mode was the excuse I needed.

Once you've played out minecraft, there's really nothing fun to do in it. It had been maybe more than 2 months since the last time I gave it a go, and honestly, after 5 mins I was already asking myself "wtf do I do now? there's no objective in this stupid game"

I know, I know... That's the point. It's a sandbox game in it's purest form, but I started playing it cause I didn't know what else to do.

Colors available are rather limiting to do sprites, which makes it sorta challenging to pick your palette.

Minecraft is a neat engine, I just wish there was some sort of goal to the game. Either that or way more blocks to make more elaborate things. I like the concept but I find the execution lacking.

Bonus points if you know which game that character is from btw.

Generic portrait thingies

There's this Fire Emblem game that has a set of sub portraits that are much simplified versions of slightly bigger and detailed portraits of the characters, not sure which game it is specificly though.

Anyway, saw those a while back, and REALLY liked them, there was something absolutely charming to it.

I would love to have a set of those for us to use on the blog, so much i actually decided to try it, and sorta failed:

You may say "These aren't so bad", and i think you'd be right, but it's not the style/look i was going for.

Still, it's something to post and show off.

Neat TF2 sprites

I found these on the TF2 news on steam.

They're based on old the pic that was in the engineer update that supposedly showed the original RED and BLU mercenaries. Just thought it was neat enough to post.

Along with these sprites there were screenshots of 3d models of 3 of those classes, i wouldn't assume that those would actually b completed though.

Awkwardly convenient timing

So yesterday I made this post about social networks, it's a subject i really never talk about or give much thought on, and when i went to dinner, there was a crime investigation show on TV, and guess what the "theme" for that crime was? fucking social networks.

Although it doesn't happen often, there's been many instances of my life when things seemed to happen on cue, Almost like some sort of superior being was manipulating the events in my life to make them seem oddly convenient.

It's like finding the key to the toolbox where u keep your soldering iron in, which u haven't needed in years, just hours before something breaks and you can use the soldering iron to fix it. Or learning the meaning of a word you've never ever heard the day before someone u met actually uses it in a convo with you.

Since I'm almost done with the new layout, I started fucking around with a possibly bar idea: The post header. On a crazy idea I'm making the header of posts look like the top of a game hud, as in, a lifebar, mana/power bars, stats, etc...

Cute art that Jimmy made the other day, thought it was cute enough to post.

I thought it'd b neat because cause we can use a portrait of the poster, everyone could have different stats and, really, the more i talk about it the more i think it might b a bad idea...

I'm still enjoying fiddling around with it because i have been needing an HUD for a project or mine, and this is rather good practice. I will most likely drop the idea and make simple simple and clean looking for the blog though.

Spoony just posted 2 videos about the Ultima series, i have only played 1 of the games, Ultima IV, but it was a game that had a huge impact on me and that i'll never forget. that is not to say i liked or hated the game, it just had an impact is all.

So I'm looking forward to whenever Spoony does video 5 of that. u can find video 1 here and video 2 here.

Also, for the hell of it:

Sounds like an orgasm, or going into labor?

I come with an offering of poke-pixels

As some may know, there's this lil sequence in Pokemon Soul Silver where ur character disguises as a team rocket member to infiltrate a station.

This spawned an idea in my head: Why don't they do something different for once and make a game where you play as a team rocket character?

You would still have the collect them all thing, and u could have side missions to raise up the ranks of the team rocket organization. Stuff like theft, sabotage, scams, etc. And after u got to a certain rank, you'd b assigned subordinates, which u can equip with Pokemons of your choice.

I personally think it'd b an awesome idea, sadly, Nintendo isn't going to change the Pokemon formula ever. "It prints money" as it is, so why bother.

On a side note to my friends, my character Pandie's anniversary is on the 17th.

House of Villians - Maleficent

More and more crap is piling on me emotionally everyday, and as such there will probably be a huge gap between this post and the next.

This is my rendition of Disney's Maleficent part of a pre-depression House of Villians series VN edition. well enjoy it.

Oh Capcom, where art thou sprite?

Remember when Capcom prided itself in sprite making? Yea me too, and that just means you're an old fart like me...that or you pirate old console games...or downloaded them from wiiware.

So here is a sprite of Breath of Fire 2's Nina. And as I have nagged to K-ToF, THE BEST BOF.
Check out the game if you have time.

Bridezilla

It's funny how being bored can lead to stuff. Anyway I wanted to do a Bridezilla attacking sprite. The original color is the yellow one, and I decided to go ahead and do a traditional white dress as well.

There's only 19 colors (including background) on each sprite, and they are about the size of KoF12's sprite.
Edit: I'm adding a dark gothic one.

Enjoy!

Sum pixels for ya

Tried my hand at making tiles, and made this lil mockup of a would b daisy game.

Honestly, this is pretty weak. i kinda disappointed myself there. I just can't come up with a style i like.
