Missing the point of the new Megaman

From Nerfnow.com:

Some comments from Nerfnow's own site:

And honestly, no one I know thought that megaman was lame. In fact almost everyone said that megaman was fucking awesome. Even the few megaman fans I know love that megaman.

>This isn't about being bitter at all.
>The creator wanted to put that megaman in megaman universe.
>And everyone was excited when they saw it in that, right?
>Yeah, they thought it was neat, they thought it was funny.

I used to be a fan of Nerfnow when he did TF2 comics. But this comic, along with the "Mist of Pandaria" one, he's revealing that he does zero research on things. He's making fun of things that aren't the way he thinks they are, so make no sense to anyone else.

The comment he put on that comic is even more facepalm worthy and just shows how he just doesn't get it. Also, there's like 5 versions of megaman, how would it make sense getting offended or disappointed for 1 more?

To be fair, a LOT of people aren't "getting it", but if the creator liked it, and you can always think of it as another alternate megaman, I really don't see the problem at all.

>I think it's not that they didn't care. I think it's more that it's tongue-in-cheek.
>The entire game is tongue-in-cheek!
>Yeah, exactly.

I'm not a popular person, and I don't think that many people care for what I say, but I still do some research.

I guess the real joke is the irony that most people didn't get that it's meant to be a joke.

Makin' Bacon

The bacon was a little undercooked last time, so I tossed it back in the skillet again.

Egoraptor's new Sequelitis - Super Castlevania 4

This is the kind of stuff I personally love to talk about with people.

Game design just interests the fuck out of me and I love to discuss with people why stuff works and doesn't in a videogame. Egoraptor impresses me in the sense that most people have trouble pinpointing what bugs them in a game, but he manages to explain REALLY well what his issues with a game are.

On a semi related note, 2 different people say that Yahtzee's review of Sonic Generations sounded exactly like my ranting after I played the game, which put the biggest grin on my face because it's so nice to know out there, there's someone that understands my feelings towards games.

I do tend to agree with the man a lot.

I got this from Bitten as my Bday present

By Bitten:

Nothing special, but I thought I'd share it with you guys.

It's really one of the nicer things I've been gifted as a bday present, and everyone who's seen it say they like the color variation Bitten gave my character Bliss on there. I only wish he didn't give my persona such dorky shorts.

"Fighterpedia Episode 6 - Play Weaponlord Immediately"

I have a poster of Weaponlord in my room, so this one made me smile.

If you read about Weaponlord, it did have a lot of systems that were really ahead of it's time. too bad the actual gameplay was on the poor side, but still, the game felt kinda awesome.

Not understanding WoW doesn't take place in reality

I don't play WoW, but Warcraft is still something close to my heart and in particular the Pandaren. So I have I have a passing interest in seeing what Blizzard comes up with.

And so I found an article

Earlier I was curious if Blizzard had released their concept of the female Pandaren for the new WoW expansion, and I came across a blog post titled:

From what I could assess , The post is on what appears to be a feminist's blog called "Geeky Gamer Girl" that prolly just plays MMOs and thinks that makes her a gamer, and she prolly likes to bitch about how women are portrayed in videogames.

I did not look heavily into the blog, so I could be wrong.

I read the article anyway, and something weird happened: I agree with her but completely disagree with all of her points.

Sexual dimorphism

Part of the issue here is the sexual dimorphism in WoW. There's a few articles about the subject that go into it in depth, I've read this one specifically around 2-3 years ago, and I sort of agreed with it to an extent.

>Do you think there's a wrong way to do sexual dimorphism in a fantasy setting?
>No, not really.

Long story short, a lot of people say the females are too vastly different from the males. It's clear the female designs are aimed towards mainstream concepts of beauty rather than lore accuracy, especially the newer ones.

The most obvious example of that is the Draenei race.

While I have to agree with the conclusion that the females tend to look purposely like supermodels, I can't agree that it's wrong they look so different from the males.

Fucking feminist bitching

To sum up GGG's (Geeky Gamer Girl) article, She says that blizzard needs to avoid making the Pandaren females thin supermodels with huge boobs. I can agree with that in the sense that I wouldn't like it either.

Now, to me as I read her article, it sounds like her main concern in this is that video game developers make girls thin. And she struggles with reasons as to why they shouldn't.
Blizzard also released concept female version art of the Mantid, an evil, insect race in the new expansion. They added breasts. Big ones, at that. Wow. Now, I don’t know about you, but as far as I could tell, female insects didn’t have breasts. Sure, the Mantid are ‘humanoid’ to an extent, but their features are clearly predominantly insect based. Adding big breasts to differentiate between male and female bugs is both humorous and worrying. And come on.. they’re friggin’ BUGS.
This is uncomfortably getting into furry territory, but it's really unavoidable cause these creatures are literally anthropomorphic. It's a lil amusing she'd think B-cup are huge breasts. I'm more of a legs man though so what do I know.

>That's like saying Pandaren shouldn't have opposable thumbs because pandas don't have opposable thumbs.
>Did you know pandas have six fingers, including the thumb?
>...
>It's true!

Here's what's wrong with what she says:

  • She's claiming to know how a fictional race in a fantasy setting should look like
  • She talks about these things like they're real
  • She admits they're part humanoid, which easily explains the breasts, but then immediately dismisses that to claim they're just insects.
  • How else were they supposed to make the females stand out? Giant eyelashes? Paint them pink? That'd be far more absurd.

Now, being technically a furry (UGH! THE SHAME!) I've heard the "boobie debate" several times before.

There's 3 general responses as a why a creature which has no breasts can have some when turned into an anthropomorphic character:

  • General response 1

Amazingly, people need to be reminded that an anthro character is something BETWEEN an animal/insect/whatever and a human. The hint was that normal cats don't fly jets.

tl;dr: An anthro character has human AND animal characteristic. Do humans have tits? well, mystery solved.

  • General response 2

Maybe they didn't start as the creature, ever think of that? Maybe they used to be humans and THEN became anthro characters.

    Example: Fucking werewolves.

  • General response 3

I call this one "Fuck you it's my story and I'll draw tits on trees if I fucking feel like it!". Doesn't matter what anyone thinks, Blizzard owns this shit and they can do whatever the fuck they want with it. And you can't tell them it's wrong cause it's their lore.

It's a FANTASY setting THEY created. It's fiction and things work the way they say it will.

Players are afraid Blizzard will take the “furry” route and just design the female Pandaren to be slim, sexy, and busty. The argument is that they did it with the Worgen, so what’s stopping them from bringing the female Pandaren to the same fate?

Odds are, the furry route would be a chubby panda gal. She's so going for the wrong stereotype. Way to talk about something you know nothing about and make vague assumptions based on nothing.

Wait, the female Worgen is slim, sexy with big boobs? I have to admit I never looked those up. Lemme find a pic:

...Holy fuck that's ugly as sin. Does it count as demeaning to women if it's very unattractive?

As much as I think that's an erection killer, it does look like a slightly buffed up version of the human counterpart, so I dunno what the issue is.

Feminist crap aside

  • Diversity in a MMO = good
From a game design point of view, it'd be terrible to have male look like the females. You want to go for diversity and easily identifiable.

This is one of the things that I think Forsaken world did very wrong: Not only 3 races look basically human, but it's often hard to tell male from female apart. This results into a clusterfuck of not knowing what's what and the low diversity makes the general population look dull.

However, since the Draenei and Blood Elves, it's been obvious the goal of the designers is more to make male look buff and strong, and to make females look mainstream sexy. Obviously to make people want to play those races, attracts new players and keeps old ones in.

Crowds look way more diverse and interesting in WoW because of the sexual dimorphism.

Now, personally, It's boring to me they go with the mainstream concept of sexy for females, cause it does nothing for me. Skinny girls with no hips look boring to me.

However, as long as the males and female look different enough, I'm good with it.

  • Stop ruining it for everyone else
It's already rare as fuck to get to play games where the female models actually look attractive, especially if you're not a "boob man", because even when it's the goal of the game to over sexualize the female characters, quite often all they'll do is give them big boobs.

Breasts alone do not make a girl attractive.

When we want to unwind and play videogames, god forbid the females in our videogames actually look good.

I'm not even picky about female builds, I love many different builds and I even like the big female Pandaren build that she says she likes, but telling people what they should use in their games is just out of line.

My character Pandie was in fact based and what me and Zach thought what a female Pandaren would look like. She's pretty big and a lil chubby, and I like the build a lot. But I'm not gonna tell people that's how they should all look like.

That sums up one of my problems with Sonic Generations

When I played Sonic Generations I was streaming it, and I think almost everyone noticed this at some point.

It's lil details like this that make the game feel a lil off as you play it, and as a result, the game isn't as good as the genesis ones.

My Bday cake (not entirely sure if this is NSFW or not)

My Bday was December 30th, but I didn't celebrate it for personal reasons.

So my mom wanted me to do it in January, which is fine by me. My cousin worked in a bakery for a few months, so she had "connections", and I dunno who's idea it was, but yesterday, this is what they put on the table:

Those are actually fucking huge.

I thought it was silly, and didn't quite care for how it tasted. But heh, it made for a lot of jokes that night.

Professor Jimmy : Penis Obsession

We've all been busy, but at least I will try to post stuff here. Originally I wanted to post stuff that happens at my work, but I've made that private for the time being. Perhaps in the future when I'm not being hovered over, I will post them on this blog. In the mean time welcome to...

This is a new segment which I will try to do call Professor Jimmy, life lesson 101. Most of this will come from questions my students ask me and responses which are hilarious enough for me to share with you. I might also answer questions our viewers want to ask no matter how strange it might be. Anyway, enough of that, time to move on to our first question.

Q: Professor Jimmy, why do the boys love to draw large penis that appears to be shooting cum on the white board?

A: Did you know that 99% of the time when a penis is drawn by a boy, it's an erect penis? It's true. Doogie Howser can verify this, he's a doctor.

"Penises are drawn erect 99% of the time. Trust me. I'm a doctor.." - Doogie Howser M.D.

So why are the boys drawing so many penis? That can be explained in two ways. The first one is Sigmund Freuds' theory where he says everyone is essentially attracted to the same gender, but we have learned to bury those urges deep inside, well most of us. So in essence, those dreams about the young mailman whipping you on a unicorn and you are eating a cabbage while a squirrel is pouring you a cup of coffee is completely normal...well according to Freud it is. However, the real answer is far simpler. Boys are stupid. We find shit like that funny. We don't think of the stuff other people think about us ahead of time. As a teacher though I find this very funny because it makes them very easy targets, erm easy to make fun of, uh they set themselves up so many times.

There are only three places where this picture would be normal or even appropriate.
1) Freud's theory 2) Japan 3)The internet

This leads us to our next part of the answer. What do you mean you didn't ask another question? Of course you did! What do you do to stop the boy from drawing penises (at least in public)?

The most interesting thing to say to a boy who is drawing a penis is to express how often and how large they are drawing it. I often state something like "Gee xxxxx student, you seem to really love drawing penises. Lots and lots of penises, but hey I'm not judging, it is something I've noticed." That usually stops them, and the other students usually laugh at them. Nobody wants to be made fun of. But if a teacher is making fun of you, chances are you deserve it. I'm helping you learn about life. You act stupid, you're going to be treated stupidly.

This is Professor Jimmy. See you next time.

lol penises.

Pokemons, TF2 and surgery

From Bitten:

>When I post the TF2 pokemon pic, anything you want to say about it?
>Mmm...
>I don't know XD
>You're a terrible blogger!

There IS something to be told about this pic though.

The pokemons in the picture are meant to be the parents of Bitten's milotic girl, Sofiya.

According to Bitten, he showed this picture to his friends as he was drawing it, and most people didn't like it. In fact, it seems only Zach and myself liked it.

I honestly loved how fucking creepy he made Sofiya's mom. I thought the intense contrast between the mom and daughter was especially neat. I highly encouraged Bitten to finish the picture.

To be noted, I assumed that the mom doesn't normally look that creepy, and she just really fucking loves science, and Bitten confirms this. She's just making a creepy face, doesn't mean she'll always look like that. That might be why other people said they didn't like it.

I don't like doodling, nor do I even claim I can doodle, but I love editing and enhancing pics. Thought I'd post a quick edit I made of Bitten's doodle:

No one liked it though.

Wikipedia gives us a preview of Internet censorship

I'm just gonna admit it, if Wikipedia didn't exist, I probably wouldn't had finished college. Back then, Wikipedia was something I knew of, but never really used, however with all the crap teachers wanted us to do I found myself looking for help online constantly, and Wikipedia was there.

>If I didn't have access to Wikipedia, then how am I supposed to find random trivia to spout to make myself look smart?

Still today, Wikipedia and other Wikis are the best way to store and organize info anywhere. Everyone I know uses a wiki for something on a daily basis. To me, any law that threatens Wikipedia and all Wikis in general is both insane and a crime against humanity.

>No comment really.
>You are the worse blogger ever!
>lol

Why this ridiculous bullshit is being even considered is beyond me.

I'm honestly a lil scared. I'm in Europe and all, but if a law like SOPA passed, it would destroy so many sites and services that make the internet so useful.

You'll see many sites doing similar protests, I just used Wikipedia as example cause it's a site that most people would agree benefits the entire world.

Some thoughts about character designs

Just something I was thinking about earlier.

I was browsing sprites, nothing specific, I just like pixels. While browsing I saw sprites for Doom64, and I was honestly a lil surprised because I always thought all versions of doom always used the same sprites. Doom64 does not.

Everything looks redrawn on Doom64, but the designs look the same, with 2 notable exceptions: the pain elemental and the cacodemon.

normal cacodemon - cacodemon doom64 - normal pain elemental

Even though the designs are different, it also vaguely looks like they were switched with each other. It's almost like whoever was in charge of setting the sprites to the enemies ingame didn't know which went on which and messed up. Even the Doom Wiki mentions that the designs look suspiciously like the other creature's previous version.

It's also interesting to know that the design for the original cacodemon was simply ripped off a D&D book. It always feels weird when you find out that big companies just blatantly rip off something and no one cares it was from something else. If you ever made a character, you've probably tried to make it look as different as possible from anything else. You don't wanna to be the guy copying someone else.

But then you hear stories about how Adell from Disgaea 2 is based on Adelheid from KoF, or how K9999 from KoF is a very obvious ripoff of Tetsuo from Akira, and you wonder "Is it really worth being original?".

Maybe, maybe not.

I've personally always had a concern with trying to be original with character designs, but truth is, whatever you come up with it's likely someone already did it first.

That's actually the main reason why I'm so jealous of Jimmy's persona: I've never seen anything like it. No one else has a bard mainly made of tentacles and of ambiguous anatomy.

Curse his sexyness too.
